This week, David Corsaro interviews magician Joe Rindfleisch about his upcoming book and the process by which a magic routine comes about through phases of development. Joe gives a great performance of three phases of an incredible coin magic routine.

Good interview. It was interesting to watch years of design compressed into a few phases. I would like to know if other peoples work inspired different segments of the routine.

Joe is a magic machine. Watching him do his thing is quite amazing. I really think he has an invisble hand.

That’s a good question Ray, From it’s beginnings Troy Hoosier and Josua Jay had inspired me to look towards this approach. Jim Pace also had an idea I modified for this routine. I borrowed a little from the Professors Nightmare Rope routine. As far as the animation sequence I was directly inspired by my Buddy and excellent magician, Eric Jones.

Can’t wait for more!

Dave,
Another great episode. You look and sound great on camera and the content is really interesting not just from a magician point of view but from a regular person perspective.
Joe,
Great stuff. Watching you do coin work always makes me feel like a complete hack. When is the new rubberband stuff coming out….?
Almost Awesome,
Jason

Thanks, Not quite sure when my rubberband stuff will be released but I have a bunch of routine that I will eventually be putting out. One routine in peticulair is called, “Jumper” and it totally fried the guys at this years F.F.F.F convention
So look forward to that in the not too distant Future.

To anyone who reads this, do not take Joe’s last comment above lightly…..the rubber band routine he is talking about is AMAZING.
I watched him at F.F.F.F. perform this routine and mouths DROPPED ! It is totally impromtu, well within the range of the average magician (no crazy wild rubber band moves) and you end totally clean.
Keep your eyes wide open for when this gets released !

So it is clear, both David and Joe have an obsession with magic. LOL.
Just kidding. Being a good friend of Joe I can attest that a year and nine months is a very conservative estimate at how long Joe has been perfecting this routine. I think I spent hours between a Dunkin Donuts and Steve’s Sizzling Steak over a period of 4 years perfecting these moves.
Great video David and Joe. If you have not seen Joe in person beg him to come to where you are to show you this, you will be fooled.
Mike
PS I think he hides stuff under his hat. Oh wait he didn’t have a hat. Fooled me.

Correction
I was not perfecting the routine, I was watching Joe perfect it. My mistake. Sorry wasn’t taking credit for Joe.

Dude, you were at 4F! I wasn’t there but saw your name on the 4F site. It’s been my dream to attend 4F since I got into magic but that won’t be until later. I’m a kid! I’m 14 but not into stuff other kids my age are crazy about. I don’t learn the overkill crazy over the top flourishes but focus on technique rather than flourishes. Vernon used to say flourishes come across as showing off to others and I am w/ him 100 percent on that. Do you know a Canadian vent/magician named Mike Robinson? He attends 4F and is the best cards guy (and vent) I know. Say hi to him at the next 4F for me or if you see him around. Love the show keep it up.

Thanks David. Yeah, 4F is a blast. You can’t imagine sitting there between David Regal and Daryl, watching Boris Wild, Richard Sanders, John Born, Jon Allen, Ray Kosby and literally dozens and dozens of other incredible magicians.
I hope to film several episodes of “Time to be awesome” when I head back up there in April. Stay Tuned.

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up. The book is now in the hands of my technical editors and all 249 photos have been taken. The book should be out in a few months. I’ll keep you informed.
